My name is Valerie Walker and I am a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, Certified Addiction Counselor, Life Coach, Public Speaker and Trainer. I provide structured treatment in a safe, warm and non-judgmental environment, where clients feel comfortable and at ease sharing the issues they are battling, and the personal goals they have for themselves and their relationships. I also provide mental health workshops and continued education credits.
I am committed to providing my clients with the tools, resources, and guidance needed to regain motivation and readiness to improve their lives and relationships.
My passion is empowering teens, adults, couples and families to learn how to navigate through and manage daily stressors they face at work, school, home, and within their relationships. I help them explore the root causes of their thoughts, feelings, anxieties, stresses, anger, depression, and substance abuse through a variety of treatment modalities, primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solutions-focused Brief Therapy (SBT). I am dedicated to helping my clients process, work through, and overcome the obstacles standing in the way of their goals and aspirations.
I specifically place emphasis on helping them develop the skills to better manage their co-occurring disorders by: developing a social support network, implementing necessary lifestyle changes, and obtaining educational, vocational, social and interpersonal skills.
I believe in empowerment through self-work, treatment, and healing, because when we show up for ourselves, we can better show up for our responsibilities and the people who mean the most to us.
